MSV – Elmswood Park Housing Project

MSV contacted me to producing some artwork for their Elmswood Housing project in Moss Side. After seeing my street photography , they wanted some unposed urban landscapes and street photography of the local area. After meeting Sarah at MSV to discuss the brief, we decided to focus on the local area, Manchester city centre and historic local connections like Emily Pankhurst and Rolls Royce. In addition, the huge site would be built on an old Bus depo, so we decided to try and incorporate that theme to the images.

As the site developed, I also captured the progress of the building work, and finally it was a joy to see and photograph the finished site.

A truly rewarding project, I enjoyed exploring the local area, looking for moments and compositions that would help tell the story of the area and its people. I also got to see my images printed bigger than I’ve ever seem them before (amazing design by Cliona at Studio Henderson) as they welcome anyone that enters the building.
